If you've ever stood in a supermarket aisle, squinting at a cosmetic label or food packet, wondering whether it's safe for pregnancy — you're not alone.
We've been there too. And that's exactly why we're building PregSafe.
The problem we're solving
When you're pregnant or trying to conceive, suddenly everything feels like it needs a safety check. Can I use this moisturiser? Is this cheese okay? What about this hair dye?
The answers are out there, but they're scattered across medical journals, parenting forums, and conflicting advice from well-meaning friends. Finding reliable, clear information shouldn't require a research degree — but right now, it often feels like it does.
What PregSafe does
PregSafe is a mobile app that gives you quick, clear answers about product safety during pregnancy and while trying to conceive.
For cosmetics and skincare, we've built the UK's most comprehensive pregnancy safety database, covering hundreds of ingredients that may need to be avoided or used with caution. Simply scan a product or type in the ingredients, and we'll tell you what you need to know.
For food, PregSafe connects to a database of millions of products. Scan a barcode or search for what you're eating, and get instant guidance on whether it's safe for your pregnancy journey.
Got questions? Our AI-powered chat assistant lets you ask anything in plain English. No more trawling through search results — just clear, data-driven answers about what goes on your skin and into your body.

Why we're building this
PregSafe was born from personal experience. Our co-founder Tanya, who has PCOS, faced real challenges when trying to conceive. She wanted to switch to safer products that supported her fertility, but quickly discovered how complicated and inconsistent the available information was.
There was no single resource offering clear, quick, and reliable safety guidance. So we decided to build one.
Our approach to safety
We want to be upfront about something: absolute safety can never be guaranteed. Many ingredients simply can't be ethically tested on pregnant individuals or babies.
What we can do is help you make more informed choices. We've set strict safety standards for what "pregnancy safe" means to us. We flag ingredients that may affect pregnancy or fertility — like endocrine disruptors — while being sensible about things like common irritants that don't pose long-term risks.
PregSafe isn't a replacement for medical advice. It's a tool to help you feel more confident about everyday decisions, and to know when something might be worth discussing with your healthcare provider.
